These are my children Harley (Chihuahua mix) and Homer (dapple Dachshund). They love to play and when they’re done they curl up together and nap. Homer even snores if he’s really tired!

Well, my…ahem…our bitch isn’t a hero, she can’t run faster then a speeding bullet, she can’t leap a building in a single bound. A counter or toddler, yes, a building, not so sure. The way is came to us is a pretty good story though I think.

A few years ago my husband was deployed. It was the 4 kids, me & our GIANT dog (so not kidding, over 200lbs) Dmitri. Sadly, one morning during my morning coffee fix I noticed he was acting really strange. He wouldn’t join me for breakfast, seemed very lethargic & drooling. After early morning, weekend calls to several vets he just kept getting worse. I finally got ahold of someone but really by that time it was too late. Details are not important here (too sad anyways) he left us. I was devistated, the kids were torn apart. Especially the 3rd who had grown up with him. Our theory is that someone poisoned him.

Being alone in a new house Dmitri was my intruder alert, he sincerely helped me feel safe. I didn’t want to get another dog quickly, I wanted to take time to find another, mourn our loss & wait for my husband to get home.

One day I jokingly discussed finding a ‘rent-a-dog’ that was already trained to help patrol the house. So I hit the google machine. I ended up finding a program where you can apply to adopt retired military working dogs (MWD). That ended up leading me to read some MWD manuals. You know how it is…you find one thing, click on another link, takes you to another, next thing ya know its dinner time & you wonder where your day went. Anyways, so in these manuals there are several breeds listed, one of which I had never heard of before, the Dutch Shepherd. So, I start researching that. They seemed like a good fit for our family, but again, I wasn’t ready to bring a new animal home yet.

I keep looking though, just because I am anal that way. One day, somehow I ended up at the website of one of the humane societies. It was an hour away from me, but I decided to look anyways. I’m looking at all of these dogs up for adoption, of course I would love to take all of them home with me. One of the pictures struck me as familiar. So I click to get a closer look. It is listed as a Dutch Sheepdog but no way. It was a Dutch Shepherd. I instantly fall in love with her crooked ear & the biggest tongue I have ever seen. I tell myself not yet & walk away. I keep going back to the site though & there she is everytime. Nearly 2 weeks later she is still up for adoption & her fee had dropped to $15!!! Screw it, I load up the kids & make the drive. I warn everyone not to get excited or attached (it was too late for me) we had to see how she was with the kids. We get there, we meet her & it was perfect. Turns out she was one of 3 who were semi-trained to be sold as a police/drug dog. They only took 2 & she was dumped by her breeder.

She came home with us that day. As we were walking out to the car she lead us right to our truck & politely sat in front of it. How she knew?? Your guess is as good as mine.

As soon as she joined our household it has been like she has always been here. I was nervous about how well my husband would like her. If they would get along, etc. As soon as he walked in the door she had him wrapped around her lil finger (dew claw??)

I could go on & on (seems as if I already have) about our Lilly. How she is so smart she has an ability to make everyone think she is dumb. If she had opposable thumbs we would be in a world of hurt. She will never sit or lay on a bare floor, even if it is a lil tiny napkin, she will sit on it. She is constantly at our feet no matter what we are doing. She escorts the kids to the end of the driveway when the school bus comes & will protect us from every fly, bee or mouse that comes by the house. Literally, she is the great pest hunter.

And I am pretty sure she has forgotten she is a dog, she thinks she is one of the kids. What we would do without our lil 4-legged companions!!!

Maximus has been the best friend i could ever want. How someone just dropped him off in the middle of nowhere I’ll never know.He is with my daughter now-who is at her Dad’s;but i miss him dearly every day.Found him on a back country road over 6 years ago when i skidded to a stop by sliding sideways with my truck to avoid hitting him! As my daughter and i discussed what to do next…he literally jumped in and made himself at home! There was no collar.I posted signs;but no response.Their loss-definitely!He was neotered and housebroken already.Gorgeous purebred!Perfect ears! And very vocal-says”i wuv u” just like in that old commercial.Brings tears to my eyes just talking about him!Only issue is his seperation anxiety. This is why i can’t understand how anyone was able to leave him-unless they threw a ballHe never misses a catch. They must have run quickly away-he was so lost and pitiful that day.Sat at door whining cause he missed his “family” that just threw him away.Talk about loyalty huh?Only issue now is my ex is apparently leaving him outside ALL the time! His wife claims its day n night, cause “her” dog is inside.Horrible since Max slept right on bed with me.Would give u that intelligent look when u would talk to him!Gonna cry now-sorry…..

these 2 cannot agree on anything, toys, food ect. but they are my babys, love them very much a.j. and tyson!

  9. Tami Russell says:

This is Belle and Zoey all decked out for Christmas (that’s Mozart in the middle, he’s the Whiniest Wiener Dog in the Wienerverse!) Belle was rescued by Mama Tracey in June 2007 and Zoey was rescued the day after Thanksgiving the same year. They are polar opposites from each other, but each one brings such joy to our home. Belle is the protector of all and makes sure no bad guys get in her mamas’ house. Everyone is suspect! And if any neighbors dare walk outside of their home she’s at the big window letting them know they better stay away. She loves balls and can remove the squeaky out of them in under 30 seconds. Now THAT is talent. Belle has a thing for paper products. She likes to eat it and can hear a tissue pulled from the box three counties away.

Zoey is sometimes referred to as “Cuzo” because she has a real bad girl side to her. She’s just the snuggliest thing on the planet until she wants to play. Then she’s a bite-y girl and you better watch yourself! Zoey is the epitome of hedonism. She lives life on the fun side and is always looking for a party. She’s Mozart’s best friend and it’s hilarious to watch him try to catch her in a game of Zoom Around the Yard. Zoey is the fastest dog in the world and we are convinced that if it was possible to train her to actually listen to us she would be the World Champion in agility competitions!

Our bitches have our formerly Alpha Wiener completely under control. He’s non longer the boss of anything but his “love pillow”, but he doesn’t seem to mind.

  10. Stacy Darlea says:

Misty – or as we call her, Misty Pup the Wonder Dog, came to us as most precious gifts do… completely unexpectedly. Born Feb. 10, 1996 during a snowstorm (we got 28 inches that day) of a Long Hair German Shepherd Mommy and sneaky Black Lab Daddy. I had already been looking for a dog for my son to grow up with, but hadn’t picked one yet when my brother’s girlfriend’s mother stopped by with her. She had picked her out for her sister who’s Doxie of 17 years had passed and the sister wasn’t quite ready for another dog yet. She told me that if I didn’t take her, she was dropping her at the pound – so Misty Pup was here to stay. She bonded very quickly with my son, not leaving his side (if she could help it). She suffered from separation anxiety when left alone, so she was never left alone! Very protective of my son, I believe she would give her life for him in a heart-beat. Misty became bestest buddies with several animals through the years; Mom’s cat Precious, Josh’s rabbit Spooky, both my brother’s Labs (Allie & KC), plus every neighborhood cat or dog she came across. She loved chasing squirrels and even learned how to climb trees in her efforts! Four and five foot fences were also no match for Misty! She loves to ride in cars, but hates to ride in trucks, knows the speak, sit, stay, sit up pretty, dance, lie down, play dead, roll over, and crawl commands as well as knowing right from left (paw command). Misty loves to swim and is so smart she learned to stay away from the pool liner and climb up the ladder to get out of the pool. She also loves to go for rides in my brother’s boat out on the river. Misty suffers from hip displasia (sp?) like most shepherd and lab breeds do, but you wouldn’t know it except on rainy days. She is on pills (which she takes regularly) to help ease some of the pain. She is so good nature’d that when she stopped eating several years ago and I took her to the vet – I discovered she had 3 broken/cracked teeth! She never let on, other than not eating. Then 3 years ago, she stopped eating again, was listless, was not going outside to do her business (which NEVER happened) and her eyes looked funny/scary. We took her to 2 different Vet offices (x-rays, ultrasounds, blood tests) where they found a mass………………. and offered to put her down. Right now, I am crying sitting here thinking about it. My son and I decided that if it were her time to go see God, it would be from home, not some sterile vet’s office. My vet friend Margie would come to my place to help her along, but offered some advice first – which I took – and I am glad I did!! Within a week, Misty was her ‘old’ self once more!! God willing, on February 10, 2010 she will be 14 years old (and my son is now 18, going on 19). I am a realist, and I know our companions do not live forever, but I will treat every day that she is still here with us as a gift straight from Heaven.

This is my old girl Baby Bubba…she was the light and love of my life, and this was her HARRY POTTER costume on Halloween 2006. RIP my beloved girl!!

  14. Jeni says:

This is Dixon – he is a rescued puppy from our local animal shelter. He was one of 6 (all were adopted!) that were left at the shelter in a SHOE BOX bound with masking tape. I adopted him at 8 weeks, and he amazes me each and every day! After day 2, he had potty training down. He rings the bell on the door when he needs to go outside, and will pat me in the face in the middle of the night if he needs out. Although he’s amazing at obedience and most definitely superior at cuddling he entertains us daily with his little idiosyncrasies. From day one, this little guy has been a fan of snuggling up, just like his mama! He has his favorite University of Oregon blanket (ironic, as he is named after a former UofO football player) that he will bite, lay down in, and roll himself up like a burrito. The tighter the better, and he couldn’t be happier than when he’s in his “puppy burrito” as it’s been nicknamed. Especially in these tough financial times, I’ve come to really appreciate the entertainment value and companionship that dogs have to offer. I wouldn’t trade my little mutt pup for the world!

  15. Suzan says:

This is my little bitch Nibler, he was named after the character in Futurama because his mouth is usually wide open. He is a little bitch, though, and I mean that with all respect. 100% silver tip persian with attitude!

  16. Sarah says:

My bulldog Chewy is the most sensitive dog I’ve ever met! He helped me get through the worst time of my life. When my husband and I separated I was devastated and he would curl up next to me and lick my hand or face and nudge the tears from my cheek. Even when I told him to leave me alone, he would follow me and look at me with the most loving eyes. He could tell that I was deeply upset and he did everything his little bully self could do to try to make me laugh or smile. He is my baby and I honestly wouldn’t have been able to get through it if it wasn’t for him. Happily everything worked out and we are a happy family again, but without Chewy in my life I don’t think it would have happened. He is my guardian angel.

  17. Collette Moffett says:

This is my 1.5 yr old little Yorkshire Terrier, weighing in at 3.5pounds.. She is a rescue dog from a puppy mill.. She came to us in July, and she is so sweet, and sassy… She was not in the best condition, but we got her all fixed up. She has been tattooed in the right ear, with the letter A, thats what she was to them..
She is now in great shape, and is now doing great. She gets along well with both our other dogs, and our children… She loves car rides, and just cuddling.. Not a huge barker, but the minute the doorbell rings, she is there. It doesn’t take too long to get her calmed down. We have taught her to sit, down, and shake.. She even hops around on 2 feet…
It is very rewarding, having her, and knowing we got her out of a bad situation. We love our Roxy!
    Thanks

Jack and Vita, two of the best dogs a girl could ask for!! They are my babies really. Jack is a 7 mo. old Pitbull mix and Vita is a 1 1/2 year old Sheltie mix, both rescue pups and so happy to have great homes!! Jack is my protector always sleeping in the bed ready to guard the door if needed and Vita is just a sweet girl who wants to be loved. I couldn’t imagine a life without dogs!!

  20. Jill Riordan says:

I have to very spoiled babies. a 10yr old shihtzu that I got after I lost my Lhasa Daisy to cancer. Princess was a saving grace she has always traveled with me loves to ride in the car. loves to go to sonic for her own cup of water. she is my couch potato that is with me no matter what is going on she loves her blankets and jewelry. Then there is Stitch a 10 month old papillion that I got at a fund raiser for a local gentleman that had cancer. He loves to wear clothes and jewlery. He also has a hippo I got him his first night with me. I have since replaced hippo 12 times. (everytime I go to walmart I buy whatever hippos they have) He loves hippo. These are my babies I tell my mom to treat them like grandchildren which she does. My spoiled fuzzlens.

  21. Joyce says:

Cats need love too. This is PUNKIN. He was our baby. Had to have him put to sleep 2009, had anemia. Loved & missed

  22. Jill says:

I have 2 insane precious furrballs that are my children or fuzzlens as my family calls them. One is a 10yr old shihtzu named Princess. She is what keeps me sane. She is spoiled right this minute she’s asleep cuddled up in a blanket. What is amazing to me is she knows ring tones which is a blessing. July of 08 she got out when a stranger went in the house and scared her, I was at work. My mom told me she was missing had been for 3 hours. I was sick. 6 hours of her missing it was dark, I got to thinking she knows the sound of my ringtone on my moms phone, I had the full song on my phone so I stood in the middle of the road blasting it and she came running. She is my spoiled little girl with her jewlery sweaters and blankets.
The other is a 10 month old papillion named Stitch. He lived up to his name. He’s Mr. GQ loves his clothes he has a wardrobe of sweaters shirts coats and jewlery. He lives to play with his little blue hippo, which I have gone to the store and bought out everyone they have cause he is horribly sad when hippo is gone. His feat of greatness.. He can throw whatever toy he’s playing with a good 5 feet. He can also chirp to let you know what he wants. these are my adorable couch potatoes. Even my family treats them like children. “All my children have paws”

  23. Brandy Camacho says:

I will kill you in your sleep…once I get out of this box that is…

  24. Leslie C says:

This is my lil’ 5-pounder, Jack the Bunny. Not a bitch but I swear–he acts like one! He’s never had his “boys” nipped and the bitches love him. A good friend’s female dog and he like to nuzzle and chase each other around. He begs like a dog–especially for pizza crust and orange segments. He survived a kidney stone the size of a marble at age two and just turned 7 in December. He naps like a lazy dog and I’m crazy about him!

  25. MrsEmilyN says:

Well…There is not much “extra special” about my dog Tucker…. at least to a person who doesn’t know him like I do…he didn’t save a life, or can do tricks, or household chores…

His previous mommy, unfortunately had to move. When Tucker was a baby, maybe about 6 months old, I was told about him from a friend of mine, and with a very unfinished home and a wedding that was in the middle of being planned, we just could not open our hearts or home to a puppy, well my heart was already open, my fiancé said not now.

7 months passed and the week before my birthday, my husband (we had had our wedding at this point) told me we can go check out the shelters and look for “our dog” HOW EXCITING!!!!!

The day before my birthday, I came home from work to find a friend of ours (different friend than before) over (not uncommon) but with a dog that was not his own. He told us how his sister-in-law had worked with the owner and how the owner had to move right away and could not wait to find a home for the dog. His sister-in-law had volunteered him and his wife to take the dog until a home was found, in lieu of him going to a shelter. How coincidental that we were going to be looking for a dog the next day.

There before me stood a tan male dog, not very large and just a little over a year old. His big brown eyes and big floppy ears were melting my heart by the minute. “What’s his name?” I asked. “Tucker.” “WAIT! Is this so and sos dog?”….

Um, it must have been fait, because about 7 months ago, someone else asked us to take this same dog…. and this time, my husband said we could keep him… a tan beagle/retriever/labrador who many people say he looks like he has pit-bull in him as well.

Now, not ever having owned my own dog, this was all brand new to me. My husband’s rules were simple. No couch, no chairs, no bed, and no clothes….and those rules went out the window within 2 months of him living at our house.
I never thought I could love a pet as much as I love Tucker. The best part of my day is waking up to him by my side and coming home to his super happy face and his tail wagging so hard that it takes his back end with it.

Within the last 4 months, we have survived his ear nibbling (yes, he nibbles on ears) his neutering (he licked off the surgical glue within an hour of him coming home), eating anything he can find (he ate a mini Baby Ruth bar wrapper and all, and also 6-8 inches off my husband’s leather belt), gnawing on mommy’s shoes (heels and toes of my dress shoes; won’t touch the gym shoes though), chewing through a super rubber kong (that took about 6 hours; there is no more kong) and most recently, getting his toe stuck in the recliner and needing stitches.

So as you can see, even though he’s not heroic, or has super powers, he is just an ordinary dog and this is why he is so special….he’s my baby.

  26. roberta cox says:

two bitches enjoying a summer day at the park.My bitches name is Akinkin . It is actually two words in japanese Aki meaning autumn and Kin meaning gold. She is an adopted beagle corgi mix and I love her bunches. She loves to play with our cats and she loves soft toys.Thank goodness she is able to tell the difference LOL

  27. I’ve grown up with a dog in the house ever since I was a baby…the bigger the dog, the more to love! Our current dog, Cocoa, is one of the smartest we’ve ever had the privilege to join our family! She is a chocolate lab (I know, not a very original name) who is the most lovable, gentle, intelligent dog I’ve known. When she was a puppy, she loved to get into things out of curiosity, as most puppies do, and I decided to get out the camera to show “Daddy” how our baby spent her day. I put the photos to music and made a video for him of our newest addition. This picture was taken kind of tongue in cheek, but certainly displays her curiosity and rambunctiousness. Cocoa is 5 now. Sadly, she contracted Lyme’s disease about a year ago. With lots of love and visits to the vet, shots and oral meds, we’ve gotten her about as comfortable as she’ll ever be with this. These days, she’s pretty stable and hobbles around slowly, mostly on 3 legs, with advanced arthritis. However, if our kids bring over one of their dogs to visit (which Cocoa absolutely loves!!) she runs with them like a puppy. The vet says the exercise does her good – makes her a little stiff and sore the next day, but I swear she’s smiling when she sees them come to the door and her tails wagging a mile a minute. She still manages to sneak into bed with us some nights – and when she looks up at me with those big green eyes I don’t have the heart to take her off the bed. Spoiled? Oh yeah – but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

  28. Sarah Hill says:

This is my baby girl Maeby. She was a rescue and I fell in love with her when she stuck her head in my cleavage to stay warm. She is the most social dog and loves everyone, plus she forces me to exercise. One day we were walking in the park and she started barking her head off at this guy. She did not want me near him at all. Later that afternoon I saw the guy running away with a ladies purse, with someone screaming behind him. My Maeby-baby knew he was a bad guy!

She’s named “Maeby” because it took me a year to decide to get a dog. I planned, budgeted, thought about it, looked over my options, and delayed. People would ask me, “Are you getting a lab?” “Are you getting a girl dog?” “Are you going to the Humane Society?” And I’d always say “Oh, Maybe.”

  29. Molly says:

This is Maggie….she loves the snow…..and she comes running over every time I sneeze. :-)

  30. Jeana says:

This is Harley, he was purchased to help me through the “empty nest” syndrome. He communicates in so many ways, if I’m crying he just wants to be on my lap. If he wants a toy, he barks very sharply. If you can’t figure out what he wants, he makes that scoobie doo sound. He is very spoiled and knows if I come home from shopping he has a new toy. He also grins at you when he gets his new toy, or if he hasn’t seen you for awhile, it makes me laugh!!!! He is Grandma and Grandpa’s favorite. He also likes to play the two-yr old game of sitting in a chair and dropping a toy and waits until you pick it up. We are taking dog therepy classes, so he can visit at hospitals. He is one of a kind, that’s for sure!!!!

  31. Veronica says:

This is Bubba & Mama Kitty.. Mama kitty thinks that Bubba is her boyfriend and follows him every where he goes.. She is always trying to clean/lick him.. He gets annoyed with her at times & manages to hide from her in our bedroom.. It works because she is not allowed in the bedroom..

  33. Misty says:

Well our doggies are Australian Heelers – one blue and one red. We got our first one after finding an add in the paper. My husband has allergies to dogs so we looked up a lot of information and found they have 2 layers of hair and shed once a year. So we went to check it out and they had one of the pups inside getting a bath and brought her out in a wet towel in February in MICHIGAN. She shivered and was so cold, my husband put her in his jacket and she just cuddled right up and he didn’t seem to be allergic either. They said she was getting picked on by her siblings and they took her out and found a fungus on her leg so they were treating it. They bred these dogs regularly and they hadn’t had shots etc. all were outside on the farm in a dirty pen. We took her right then, we weren’t prepared but she was just in need of help. Took her to the vet and she had MITES not fungus it was touch and go for 24 hrs due to the breed and the medication it could of killed her. She was fine up until her 5th yr and now she has seizures once a month – there is nothing they can do for her but she does fine. Now we have a 10 month old blue heeler male – Bolt and well he has a great personality totally opposite of Lizzy but they love to play. They are the best pups ever. Bolt came from another farm – an add in the paper – 7 wks old in a outdoor cage coverd in feces with a docked tail – which you are not supposed to do. We took him right then and there and didn’t have the correct change so we paid extra. We love our pups and think they are the best.

Lizzy is (brown) Red Heeler Bolt is (black) Blue Heeler

  34. Christina Leong says:

Oliver is my baby! He is a 18 month old Yorkie, cute as a button and very smart! He loves to play fetch and do tricks! He has learned many words and likes to play soccer and toss back. I wish I could upload the videos of him playing! He can play dead at the command “Bang” and pointing your “finger gun” at him. One of his favorite summer time activities is swimming, hes quiet the little fish and the best snuggler in the world! Thank god I don’t have children or they’d be jealous…my boyfriend sure is!

  35. Wes Doyle says:

My baby bitch (and yes she is in so many different ways) is Sarah Belle. When my daughter, Sarah left home for college, her brother, who is nine (9) years younger, was devastated. For whatever reason for several years prior to this event, he had proclaimed his deep desire for a dachshund. Our home already had a cat, a german short hair pointer, a fish, and a box turtle. All of which I was the caregiver of. The “new dog” request was denied. However, after seeing the heartache and sorrow my son was experiencing, I agreed to at least take him to our local shelter and look for a doxie.

The Humane Society had a dachshund and beagle mix (close enough for my son) and her name was SARAH! Wow, it was like a sign from GOD! I accepted the mixed blessing and while my son feel deeper in love with this dog, I was informed she had a hold on her and the family still had several hours to pick her up before she would be available for us. My son begins to cry and in walks Sarah’s new family. I explained it was sad for us but what a lucky dog she was to have so many people want her.

While we are leaving the shelter, I remember looking at this gentle boy with silent tears running down his cheeks and his head hung so low that I thought my heart would break. What else could I say? That’s right, I said it! The worst two words any true animal lover could say…..PET STORE. Off we go to PETLAND. As we are walking by cages of barking dogs of every breed , I do not see my son’s true desire, there were no dachshunds. I am thinking that this REALLY is not meant to be and trying to think of words of wisdom to comfort him when I see him at the back of the store and there in a cage with two (2) other dogs of different breeds, is a little black dachshund with a sign above the kennel “DISCOUNT”! So don’t think this bitch on a budget wasn’t happy! As we leave the store with this tiny little black dog held so securely in my son’s arms, I realized I had not asked him what his little dog’s name was going to be. Softly and warmly he said, “Oh Mom, you know what her name is, just like my sister’s, SARAH.”

So that is the story of a very pampered and spoiled dog that we added Belle to her name so we knew if we were talking about the dog or as she became known as “Sarah Person”. After three (3) years we call our doxie Sarah but still call my daughter “Sarah Person”. I wonder if “Sarah Person” has figured out that she has dropped in the family’s pecking order because of this little ten (10) pound bundle of love?

  36. Julie says:

My dog Penny was a most unique dog. A collie/shepherd mix, she was a very friendly, lovable girl! And we sure found out that even though she had been spayed, she very much wanted to be a mommy!

Rewind…my kitty, always a rambunctious flirt around the neighborhood, had a litter of kittens. Oh but she was a teen mom and didn’t really care about her babies much. She left them here and there to go party with her puss friends (at least that’s what my 8 year old brain told me). Penny saw this and couldn’t help herself with her strong mom instinct.

Soooo when kitty had abandoned her kittens for the day, here came Penny. She would grab one by the scruff and cart it off to her doggie bed then went back for another, and another until all 5 were in her bed. She would lay down next to them and even tried to feed them but of course she had no milk. But it was ok with the kittens who began to bond with their surrogate mom. They fell asleep quickly, nestled in her fur, once Penny laid down with them.

Fast forward…kitty came home to find her babies missing!!!! When she found them, she was LIVID with Penny, growled and snarled at her and one by one took her babies back to HER house (an old doll house). But you know, the next day, kitty must have had a good thing going ’cause she went off again and Penny just couldn’t stand it. I could almost hear her say, “Bad BAD kitty!” as she went to get the babies again. Kitty came home again and yes, Penny was in trouble, again. The next day it almost seemed like Penny couldn’t wait for kitty to leave so she could cuddle with her adopted fur balls. Believe it or not, kitty eventually warmed up to the idea that Penny was a real force in her kitten’s lives and “let” Penny babysit everyday, though we all knew Penny was the real MOM. Those kittens adored Penny! And so did we.

Eventually we had to put the kittens up for adotion and Penny was terribly sad. She’d mope around and whine with loneliness, checking every nook and cranny of the house just in case one was left behind. I cried for her! Poor girl. But she got a nice surprise. Apparently mom and dad were a bit slow to get kitty spade so, you guessed it, she had more babies! And though it was not ideal for the animal population, Penny and I thought it was GREAT!! She helped raise another brood of well adjusted kittens who again went off in the world to brighten another human’s life.

When Penny passed away later that year, we were all devastated. However, we did not lose sight of the wonderful miracles we had witnessed through the years. I take those memories with me wherever I go and know that anything is possible, thanks to one of my greatest teachers…I love you Penny!!

My dog isn't at all heroic or talented (or even very smart, I'm afraid), but he's cute!

  38. This is my Cassie. She is a black cocker spaniel. I got her as a mother’s day gift in 2005. My son got her to sit long enough to take her picture with sunglasses on. She follows me where ever I go. If I am sleep she is sleep. She sleeps under my bed. I can be mean to her and she is always there with her unconditional love. She liked to go for rides in the car. She loves to chase cats, birds, squirels, and anything else that moves. Cassie was a very sweet dog. She was not a barker. She did bark at people she did not like. She also loved my daughter. If I was not home Cassie would sleep with her under her bed. The day after my birthday last year, I had to put my Cassie to sleep. She got an infection when she went into heat and would not stop bleeding. My daughter and I miss her so much.

Well, I have some awesome dogs but I want to rave about my skunk, Tinker. She originally belonged to a friend and I just cared for her while my friend traveled. She got a puppy and it thought Tinker was her toy; that is how I ended up with her. Tinker has been with us now for 4 years and is spoiled rotten. When I feed her she throws fits if it is not to her liking, she lies on a little chaise lounge chair on a shelf and watches the dogs play through the window, probably because I haven’t got cable in her room yet!!!!

  40. We're still waiting to hear from the 'smarter' than us people on how to get a pic uploaded. Feel free to embed one in an email and send it via the contact box on the website. xo

My baby boy Gizmo is the cutest, pickiest, most stubern dog ever and I love him more than anything or anyone! Our day start's by Gizmo jumping on my bed and giving me kisses to wake me up, then I have to get up and drive him in the car to the only road he will go number 2. It is the weirdest thing, but he wont go unless I walk him in this certian area that is to far to walk to so I have to drive there! Gizmo is a small dog, about 20 pounds, he has a pug face with the cutest under bite. I can't stand snoring! if a guy I'm dating snores? it's over! Gizmo snores so bad my bed vibrates, but for some reason his snoring don't bother me? He has to sniff every tree, bush, pole and fence we walk by and if it has the right smell he has to pee there ..lol One time he wanted me to take him outside and I diden't, so he looked right at me, hopped on the kitchen table and peed on the silk flower's I had on the table as a center piece! He did it just to piss me off! all I could do was laugh though! Gizmo think's he is king! ruler of the house! and ya he kinda is ..Lol If I say “Gizzy, give mom kisses” he hates it but he will come give me a kiss! every time I have to leave without him, I say “come give mommy a kiss bye” and he does it! Aww I miss him. After 13 year's with me, I had to put him to sleep due to cancer. He was in alot of pain! It was the hardest thing I have ever done! I wish I could post a pic of him? RIP Gizmo ….

ok my doggy story goes like this. My daughter was 2 years old when we had Rex half rock half german shepard they both was the same age but it was when we let Rex around the yard one day my daughter Ayesha was outside the gate. Rex came up to the gate where she was and was scratching on the ground so Ayesha got low and put her fingers thru the gate where Rex was and her fingers went right in his nose. lol that was so funny. idk she loved digging in his nose for some reason that wasn't the only time.

I don't have a doggie anymore but I have the most amazing cat who thinks like a dog, she's a 25 pound ragdoll who follows me around the house and will let me know when the two year old wakes up in the morning, when the coffee maker is done if someone is at the door, she's a great cat but then again you have to be when your owners children name you doodyhead

My dog, Holly, is amazing. She is my best friend. She is my constant companion and loves me unconditionally. She waits for me while I shower and when I leave to go to work or school, she waits patiently for me to return. She loves to go for rides in the car and loves to shop at Petco. She loves to be brushed, she doesn't like to get dirty and will even wipe her feet! She has alerted me to strangers in our yard and would protect me and my children if we needed it. She wakes me up in the morning with something that sounds a lot like “Maaawwmm”. She is amazing and I love her.

My lil girl is Ellie. We found her on Dec 21, 09. She ran away from her home and was hiding under my truck trying to stay warm. Shes a little chihuahua. It was almost 1 in the morning when my fiance got home from work and the ground was covered in snow. He heard a noise and here she came dragging her hiney from under the truck. She was nearly frozen and starving. We brought her in and wrapped her in warm blankets, got her some fresh water and some turkey (didnt have dog food). The next day I have her a bath and made a vet appointment to make sure she was healthy. Ever since that night she is always at my side. When my fiance gets home she waits at the door for him to come in. She sleeps in our bed with us. I can tell that she is grateful that we rescued her by the way she acts. She loves to play with tennis balls. Shes a cuddler and was potty trained when we found her.
I did find out who her owners were. I went to their house and after seeing the conditions, I knew there was no way we would give her back. They know we have her and have not bothered to come after her. That does not bother me but what does is that there are other dogs in there that I cannot rescue. The conditions were awful and I see why she ran away. We love her and will not let her go back to that. She gets pampered here, shes spends her days in a warm house with plenty of food and love!
