My hubby and I are Farmers agents and we have both. As has been mentioned, it's really cheap to put towing on your auto policy, but the auto policy towing and AAA often have totally different mileage and requirements. We broke down three times last year and each time we measured who was more appropriate for how far we were from home and what the problem was. We were so happy to have both that we re-upped our AAA and kept our insurance towing.

The problem with your insurance roadside assistance is many times it requires you to pay for the service and then be reimbursed. AAA you just show the card and keep your money. Depends on if you have the money to cover the tow or whatever else.

Please remember also to include the tire iron or a 4way to change the tire. I learned to change a tire when I was a teen. My Mom with three teen girls were stranded on a blizzard night. I changed the tire, teaching myself! When my two daughters and I got a flat some 20 years later...the man who changed our tires before the trip forgot to put the 4 way in the trunk. We were unable to change the flat! We sat on the side of the Interstate in Illinois for 2 hours. NO ONE would stop to help ! Finally, I stood in the road..so a semi stopped and though the driver did not have the right tool..he called out to other drivers until one could come help! THIS IS AN ALL CALL TO WOMEN....Learn how to do it!
I have 'payed forward' by helping any woman I see on the side of the road!

Before you drop AAA, check out the other benefits to membership besides roadside assistance (and towing), such as "Show Your Card and Save" benefits with local and national merchants, restaurants, rental car companies, etc. In addition, there are lost of other benefits to membership, such as trip interruption, etc. Don't throw out the baby with the bath! All roadside assistance plans are not equal!

My dad pointed this out to me when I was still in highschool. For $1/month our State Farm had Roadside Assistance. And I used it! Several times! (Yes, I lock my keys in my car lot.)
When I moved away and married we switched to USAA and you better believe that I made sure that this feature was on our policy.

A girls gotta do, what a girls gotta do.

Thanks Bitches!
